My wife has always told me that when you see a cardinal it is someone from heaven coming to say hi. If that’s true we have been getting a lot of heavenly visitors lately.
The male cardinals really stand out in winter. They tend to hang back from the feeders and let the females come out to see if it is safe. But once they get the all clear they will swarm around the feeder and the ground under it picking up dropped seeds.
They look much better now than they did a couple months ago when they were molting.
